MonkeyTours AS – Terms and Conditions

1. General Terms

MonkeyTours AS offers campervan rentals under the following terms and conditions.
By renting a vehicle from us, you fully accept these conditions.

2. Requirements for the Renter

The renter must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license for the vehicle they choose to rent.
The license must have been valid for at least one year before the rental period starts.

The renter is responsible for providing accurate personal information in due time before check-in.
The renter is required to read their vehicle’s operating procedure, located in the glove box compartment.

3. Booking and Payment

Bookings can be made via our website or by direct contact with MonkeyTours AS.
A booking is only confirmed after the renter’s license has been verified by our staff.

MonkeyTours AS may store documentation of the renter’s driver’s license for a maximum of three months after check-out, in compliance with GDPR and data protection regulations.

All bookings must be fully paid upfront at the time of reservation.

4. Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit of NOK 2000kr is required before vehicle pickup.
This amount will be refunded within 30 working days after the vehicle is returned, provided:

• No damage has occurred,
• The vehicle is returned clean and with a full fuel tank,
• All equipment is accounted for,
• No additional charges or traffic fines are outstanding.

5. Cancellation and Refund Policy

If you cancel within 24 hours of booking, the full sum will be refunded.
Cancellations made later than 24 hours will incur a cancellation fee depending on the remaining days until the start of the rental, with a minimum of NOK 2000kr for all cancellations.

We understand that travel plans can change, and we aim to be as fair as possible.

• Within 24 hours of booking: You’ll receive a full refund.
• Between 24 hours and 30 days before rental start: A fixed cancellation fee of NOK 2000kr applies.
• Less than 30 days before rental: 50% of the total amount will be refunded.
• Between 14 and 30 days before rental: 25% of the total amount will be refunded.
• Less than 14 days before rental: No refund will be issued.

A minimum fee of NOK 2000kr applies to all cancellations made after 24 hours.

MonkeyTours AS is not responsible for cancellations caused by events beyond our control (see Section 14: Force Majeure).

6. Pickup and Return

The vehicle must be picked up and returned at the agreed location and time.
Late returns may incur a fee of NOK 500kr per hour unless otherwise agreed.

The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as when it was picked up, including:

• A full fuel tank,
• Minor interior cleaning (swept, wiped surfaces, dishes washed).

Failure to clean the vehicle or refill the fuel tank will result in a fee of NOK 2000kr.
If deep cleaning is required (e.g., smoke, pet hair, stains), an additional charge of up to NOK 2000kr may apply.

7. Mileage Policy

All rentals include unlimited mileage within Norway.

8. Insurance and Liability

All vehicles are insured with liability and comprehensive insurance.
The renter is responsible for a deductible of up to NOK 15000kr per incident.

Plus Insurance (optional)

For added peace of mind, renters may choose Plus Insurance for NOK 300kr per day.
With Plus Insurance, you do not have to pay the deductible (normally NOK 15000kr) if an accident or damage occurs.
In other words, you will not be charged any extra amount in the event of an incident.

The renter remains responsible for:

• Any damage not covered by insurance (e.g., due to negligence, excessive off-road driving, or unauthorized use),
• Lost keys, windshield cracks, tire damage, or damage to the vehicle’s interior.

9. Use of the Vehicle

Smoking inside the vehicle is strictly prohibited.

Pets are permitted in our vehicles. In the future, designated pet-free vehicles will be available for customers with allergies or sensitivities.

The vehicle may only be used within Norway unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The renter must comply with all traffic and parking regulations and is fully responsible for any tickets, tolls, or penalties incurred during the rental period.

Prohibited uses include:

• Excessive off-road driving,
• Racing or speed testing,
• Towing other vehicles,
• Transporting hazardous materials,
• Any illegal or negligent use.

10. Technical Issues and Emergencies

In case of a technical issue or breakdown, MonkeyTours AS must be contacted immediately.
If the vehicle cannot be driven safely, do not continue driving.

In the event of an accident with personal injury or damage to other vehicles or property, you must first contact the police and/or emergency services, and then notify MonkeyTours AS as soon as possible.

• Fill out the accident report form found in the “Important Stuff” folder located in the glove box.
• Cooperate with insurance and police authorities if required.

If a breakdown prevents further travel, MonkeyTours AS will assist with roadside help and, if possible, offer a replacement vehicle or refund for unused rental days.
MonkeyTours AS is not responsible for indirect losses such as missed accommodations or travel plans.

11. Damage and Inspection

All vehicles are inspected before and after each rental.
Any new damage discovered upon return will be documented with photos and an inspection report.

MonkeyTours AS will assess repair costs based on professional estimates, and the renter will be notified before any charges are applied.

12. Personal Belongings

MonkeyTours AS is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings left in the vehicle at any time during or after the rental.

13. Penalties for Breach of Terms

Violation of these terms may result in additional fees or liability for damages.
MonkeyTours AS reserves the right to terminate the rental agreement immediately in the event of serious breaches (e.g., reckless driving, intoxication, or illegal use).

14. Force Majeure

MonkeyTours AS is not liable for cancellations, delays, or other disruptions caused by events beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, or government restrictions.

15. Disputes and Legal Jurisdiction

Any disputes should first be attempted resolved amicably.
If no agreement can be reached, the dispute shall be governed by Norwegian law, with Kristiansand District Court as the legal venue.
